@ ranu : back-benchers ruled !!!!

Incidentally, the 8th of this month was also the day that we ( class of 2k9 ) began as a class at GCTS in 2005. J ( and I’m up to something that could make for a good birthday present for all u guys present in this great batch ) will get back to you in some time J

BTW Priyanka has done a wonderfully cool job with the picture-and-narration style… I’ll extend.... :)

The Back-Benchers !!!

The last two rows in the classroom were always separated from the rest of the class!! Kokhono kokhono to mone-hoto that aamra onno ekta lecture attend korchi .. err pashe boshe thaka kono classmate’r lecture… and very often the teacher wouldn’t like it …. Orom ekjon PD chilo…. Ekdin Kotha bolte bolte nijer moddhe khub haasha hashi korchi….. pichone boshe amra – sila, ami, mari !! Kichu ekta kotha niye khub haasha haashi cholche, mone hoi keo PD’r nokol korchilo LIVE !!! hotath PD bole – “ eeeu three !!! pleas’ss’e get out of the cla’sss’s ” … the three of us get up (nirlojje’r moto) and kono rokom a haashi dhaka diye berote jaabo ki PD abar bole – “oh!! Tumi o berobe ? ok ! chole jaao” suddenly a ruckus is created the class is rolling away with laughter…. We are almost near the door now but we turn back to get the joke. There it is, confused hoye dariye aache - Paagla !!! bechara class a gumaachillo!! ei chaychamechi te ghum bhenge geche bechara'r ... O bhebeche sir oke “get out” boleche, tai o ghum theke uthe soja amader saathe haata laagiyeche !!!! finally after much ado about "sleeping", Pagla decided to stay back that day …. After all a bunch of 4th years turned out of the class doesn’t look nice … or does it? but Pagla , u deserve a huge round of applause !!!

Maity was the most popular teacher na? debate hobena mone hoi J but maity’er class a chele-meyra usually chup chaap class korto … doused in awe and charm I guess ;) but even he couldn’t stop our un-forced double faults …. Shedin mone hoi shaamner dike (2nd bench a ) boshechilaam …. Mone hoi crepe bandage niye kichu bolchilen sir .. hotaat “dhaaaam” !!!!!! eto jor kono awaj normally kono class a hoina .. monehochhilo kono ekta khub bhari kichu maati-te poregeche like the prehistoric OHP that lay around in the classroom un-used most of the time … anyways it came from behind the classroom and that is where the OHP is not usually kept… tahole ki porlo ?? shobai pichone ghure dekhaar chesta korchi … but kichu dekha jachhena … teen second… char second… paanch second.. and then it appears. Table’er niche diye aage ekta bishaal haath berolo !!! taar por aarekta bishaal haath !!! taar por ekta bishaal maatha aar chotto chotto duto chokh … and then the rest of KINGKONG !!! smiling he made the first move before sir could crack the joke… says – “ ss.. ss.. ssir ghumiye pore chillaam, chair bhenge poregechi” !! kudos Kingkong , u were a wonderful backbencher !!

Okay this one, I just loved !!! sila santo malu katwa chamu and saptarshi !! prottek din a kono na kono class a deri kore aashto!!! Every single day !! even as the entire class would be smelling cigarettes, they would refute saying “ Sir , bathroom a chilaam “ or “Sir, canteen a chilaam” ,when reprimanded. And pichon theke keo na keo always bole uthto ( rather very audibly) “sir mama’r dokaane cigarette khete gechilo” !!!! of course, both the guilty and the jury in this case were back-benchers !! sir ki korbe na bujhte pere bechara der dhukte diye ditto :D

Chuha most amazingly had the most disgusting habit!!! While sitting beside him you would always run the risk of his “pichuk” landing on your trousers!!! Sila would always complain – “ paan khaaye saiyaan humaar, (but mere) kurte pe cheet laal laal” :D Chuha used to love this one!!

There were countless such other incidents that involved the poor souls sitting at the back that we’ll all remember. I say “we” because every time something goofy at the back happened I could always see the enthusiastic first-benchers turning back .… approvingly most of the times . some wise guy once said : "intellects are everywhere … some enjoy the laugh while some choose to bear the expense …. " :P

You guys must be thinking – ei golpo gulo toh shabai aage theke e jaani , tahole aabar kore lekhaar mane ki ?… ami bhaablaam toder bhalo laagbe .. :) .... those were crazy days na ?

Anyways the other important thing is that notun college'a ake-baare pichoner dike ekta jaayge book kore niyechi !! it’s only half as fun, though. But, sometimes when I’m not sleeping through a boring lecture, my mind still drifts away to the 2nd floor of the Girishanandya building, Asansol.
Confession: Ekhon aar Chandrabindoo’r gaanta – “ ghum ghum classroom , paashe khola jaanla / daakche aamake …” aar boka boka laagena :D

p.s its only to be fair that I’ve not included section B here, I’m sure the back-benchers there have done an equally competent job as we did in creating speed-breakers for the faculty ;)

ooh before i get lost , wish all u guys from the class of 2k9 a very very HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!may God bless all ... cheers

The Birthday Day

6th August 2005

Just two days before we entered through the golden gates of GCTS, 3 of our batchmates celebrated their b'days in the peace of their homes, with their loved ones. They're very apprehensive about the new turn their lives are taking and this is probably their last "normal" celebration, they tell themselves.

6th August 2009

Its' been a few months since college got over, finally.
Once again the 3 b'day people are with their loved ones in t
he peace of their home... but they are missing something.
The madness that b'day's at college had come to mean, the day-long queue of wishes and bumps which began at dot 12 midnight. The icing smeared faces and the glitter stuck in hair, the ballons bursting all around. The hugs, yes, and the wonderfully wrapped-up gifts too!

Between these two dates lies a whole world
- our world of debates: whether to go for strawberry or choclate or to go 'jugaad'? whether to go obnoxious with the ballon fillings or with the bumps? or maybe show some mercy for a change?
-our world of music: bangla-hindi-oriya-english-whatevr! rhythm is what counts... anything which allows for movement is welcome on a party-night!
-our world of planning: what to keep and what to remove from the b'day treat menu.. budget's thinner than a shoestring afterall!
-our world of friends: everyone is eligible for the bumps/kicks!!
-our world of joy: b'days were a somewhat painful affair for the 'causes' but the effect somewhat made up for it :)

To these amazing people who owe us all a grand treat:
HAPPY B'DAY ALL OF YOU!!!
This, we hope, makes up for our absence :)
(Somewhat?!?)

P.S: I only knew about these three b'days on this date... if there were others and I've been missing them over the years, please pardon me and correct before the b'day boy/girl kills me.
I take this opportunity to forward another gentle reminder about our treats due over the years....
